Don’t get arrested for DUI in Seattle on Cinco de Mayo

This weekend there will be extra DUI emphasis patrols in King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties. Special emphasis will also be placed in downtown Seattle, Ballard, and Fremont areas while other law enforcement agencies will be targeting roads that are at a high risk for impaired driving crashes. This includes Tacoma, Puyallup, Bellevue, Federal Way, Kent, Auburn, Renton, Burien, SeaTac, Lynnwood, Marysville, and Everett.

Mobile Impaired Driving Units operated by the Washington State Patrol will be set up in several cities to enable Officers to transfer the custody of those arrested to the Units Troopers for investigation of DUI. With all the negative media that has been surrounding DUI cases in the past few months due to a couple high profile Seattle DUI cases, now is not the time to get a DUI arrest. Too much negative scrutiny, too much negative opinion, and too many overzealous police officers.

If you do find yourself drinking this weekend and taking part in the festivities of Cinco de Mayo a few popular bars and restaurants will be handing out Click it 2 Ride cards. This is actually a pretty good idea and a way for people that have had too much to drink get a ride home. How does it work you ask?

Basically you will get the card from a bar. You scan the card with your smartphone and it will tell you the closest taxi company right down to the cross street. This will allow you to get the quickest cab ride and not have to sit outside on the curb waiting a 1/2 hour for the nearest cab to cross your path. It takes the guess work out of it, and gets you going home sooner rather than later.

The restaurants handing out Click it 2 Ride cards include:

Azteca Restaurants in Piece, Snohomish, and King Counties
Mazatlan Restaurants in Pierce, Snohomish, and King Counties
Taqueria el Rinconsito in Pierce and King Counties (this by the way is one of my favorites places to get tacos. Trust me I know what I’m talking about when it comes to Tex-Mex food)
Brouwers Cafe, LTD Bar and Grill in Seattle
Tapatio in Bellevue
La Concina del Puerco in Bellevue
Ixtapa in Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Monroe, and Snohomish
El Paraiso in Everett, and Silver Lake
La Palmera in Everett and Mill Creek

If by chance you do find yourself in the unfortunate position of being investigated for a DUI in Seattle or any other location in Western WA, call my office anytime and an experienced DUI Attorney will be able to guide you through the process, and properly advise you on what you should do to protect your constitutional rights.
